How to introduce yourself in a job interview

Have you wonder why the interviewer ask you to tell us some thing about yourself even though he or she have a resume with the complete information about you.

 The reason is the interviewer wants to know how you will narrate your story of  life till now  in your own words .it does not mean you start telling about your childhood, think about your awards, think about your accolades and experiences you had in your life so far .consider the themes, personality traits and skills that come across these experiences.

 Thank your interviewer for giving an opportunity to introduce yourself. Say thank you for short listing me for the personal introduction round. it will the interviewer your courtesy nature. One of the ice breaking question is tell me some thing about yourself. 

Even though you know about you but you may not be able to tell at that movement. . may be because of stress you may not be able to answer properly. 

Lets talk how can we answer in a simple manner.

There is a order to say it.  Tell your name confidently.

First thing you have to mention is your name only if the interviewer not mentions your name seeing your resume. Tell your name confidently.

Next comes place. You can say I am from Hyderabad or …. You are born and brought in so and so  place.

Third thing is your highest qualification. And why you have chosen these education subject . and how much percentage you got . tell about your academic achievements. this show your clarity of thought .

Forth one is your skills which you have already mentioned in resume. 

Try to explain your skills you have. Tell about the extra circular activities in your school

 Tell the reason to pursuing the professional stream of education you have chosen to study.

 Have your own unique reason to amuse the interviewer. For example if you applied for sales job you can tell I wish to pursue in sales and marketing department as it is all about helping others to achieve their goals and solve their problems by introducing your company products and services to them. i would to work.

Tell about your experience if you have. 

Tell the interviewer how many years of experience you have. And explain how your experience useful to develop their company.

Tell about your strengths; tell only those which is necessary for the job you have applied. 

Whatever you are telling you should be able to explain your strengths if asked. So be prepared. For example if you are optimistic you have to be capable enough to explain how optimistic you are and it relates you. In a positive note you have to answer every question.

Tell about your hobbies. you can say I am found of reading books , watching movies, listening light music.…or I love reading ..

No one is perfect, talk about your weakness. if possible talk less and answer smartly about your weakness. Make sure that you can explain if the interviewer asks you to explain about any one of it.

Tell about your role model whose footsteps you follow to achieve your life goal.

Speak about your family. Coming to the family background or so far my family background is concerned  .we are four members or three or ..

My family consist of four members . my father is working in …

If your mother is not working say she is a homemaker instead of housewife.

Mention about your brothers and sisters.

There education.

It is extremely to tell about your aim . it shows how much you are focused on work. Don’t just end up your introduction. 

Say well that is my journey of my life so far. Or  After introduction say that solve about me.

Avoid mentioning sir or madam again and again. Mention two or three times. Enough.

This is a very sweet and short way of providing you information in a proper order. 

When the beginning is clear the rest of the interview will definitely go well.  Don’t get tensed. Relax and face it confidently.

you have to be able to show what you are good at. And it’s not enough to present a laundry list of skills. “Give detailed examples from work or school,”. For example, if you love working with all different kinds of people, tell about a time you worked well within a diverse team.

Talk about how you think through these things and focus on getting to a solution so the interviewer can see how you would operate on the job. 

Preparing yourself mentally can help build confidence, so it helps to do mock interviews with friends.
